About

Newstead Primary School provides a warm, caring and safe learning environment for the children of our country town and community.

Our vision is to enable our students to understand and engage in both the local and global community, to be lifelong learners and well informed active community members.

The School's original 1877 (and refurbished) redbrick building sits proudly in the large school grounds. Large classrooms cater for flexible learning. A modern separate multipurpose building is utilised for the Art program and other school and community activities.

The grounds and gardens feature tended mature trees, flower and plant beds, as well as large sports areas, play and learning spaces for the children including two playgrounds, basketball and netball courts, footy and soccer pitches, a veggie garden, and quieter retreat areas.

Respect, Responsibility & Resilience are the values that we wish our students and School community to uphold.

Newstead Primary School provides support and stimulation for the students to develop their full potential. Teachers have high expectations that students work to their personal best and respect and care for themselves, others and the environment.

Our safe, secure and attractive environment inspires students, staff and the wider community to value learning and to grow in self-awareness and social responsiveness, with opportunities for the students to develop and succeed socially, physically, academically, creatively and emotionally.

School values

Respect, Responsibility & Resilience are the values that we wish our students and School community to uphold.

  • Resilience - being able to manage our emotions in any situation. It means being persistent, bouncing back from adversity and making the right choices.
  • Respect - treating ourselves, others and our environment with care and consideration. It means interacting and appreciating the unique qualities of all individuals.
  • Responsibility - being accountable for our actions and resolving differences in a constructive way, contributing to our community and ensuring the preservation of our environment.

These values were developed through a process that involved the whole school community.

Child Safe

Newstead Primary School has a culture of Child Safety. The emotional and physical wellbeing of our students is pivotal to their success at school, as adolescents, and in their future lives. Physically and emotionally healthy students are happy, able to deal positively with life’s challenges, experience a sense of connectedness with the school and others, and are well placed to develop into well-balanced and successful young adults. All staff, volunteers and school council members of Newstead Primary School are required to observe child safe principles and expectations for appropriate behaviour towards and in the company of children.
