Message from the Principal

Firstly I would like to thank all of the volunteers that supported our fundraising efforts at last Saturday’s Election BBQ. It was amazing to see so many different members of the school and local community coming together. With fundraising efforts like this we will quickly be able to set to work on uplifting our school grounds for our students.

Today was our yearly Open Day as part of Education Week. We had 13 families that took tours with our student leaders. The families were so impressed with the confidence and knowledge of the students taking them around the school. Well done to Adyson, Olive D, Meg M, Zac, Flo, Aggi and Chloe on showcasing our school in such a positive way.

In a few weeks we will begin our School Review. All Victorian Government schools have a review every four years. The school review is a look back on the last four year’s achievements and areas for improvement. A number of principals and Department of Education representatives will be involved in discussions with student groups, parents and staff about school at Newstead Primary. This is a really exciting time for us to not only look back but also to plan for the next four years. We will be asking for a number of families to participate in forums in June. This is our time to really put forth what we want for our school to make it the best it can be.

As part of this review process we are also in the process of updating many of our school policies. A reminder to all families that all school policies are available on request from the office or visit our website.

Regards,

Kathy Callander
