Finally!

It has been great to finally teach in all of the classrooms across the school this week. The best part about my job is getting to know the students and how they learn.

Students in the 3/4 and 5/6 are in full swing preparing for next week’s NAPLAN testing. It has been interesting reading their persuasive pieces and their ideas on how to persuade others to their point of view.

This week had a collaborative excursion with the P/1/2 students and Newstead Kinder to Mt Franklin. I really appreciated getting to know the kinder students and family members. We look forward to welcoming many new families into the school as kinder transitions begin in the coming months.

It is very exciting to announce that we have begun the process of starting some of our capital works projects around the school from our State Government funding last year. Over the next few months you will begin to see :

• a new fence construction around the school boundary

• sports shed to be replaced with a new shed/storage area

• new staff kitchen and storage areas

We are endeavouring to complete most of the works during the July school holidays. However, some demolition may need to be done during weekends or after school this term.

Regards,

Kathy Callander
